During this trip, we will visit the high mountain lakes of Son-Kul and Kel-Su, travel across the splendid canyon of the Kechi Naryn River, explore Kalmak Ashu, Kubaky, Moldo Ashu and Kyndy Passes, see the magnificent red canyons of Konorchek and many other beautiful and unusual sites.

Every day you will visit incredible new places that will take your breath away, go on short walks, ride horses, learn about the culture of Central Asia's nomadic peoples, take many pictures and enjoy the silence, delicious food and wildlife of Kyrgyzstan.

Transport – A Guide - Safety

To travel in the mountains, we use four-wheel-drive jeeps or minibuses.

Our drivers have extensive experience traveling in the mountains and are always careful.

The program was conceived to ensure you could become accustomed to altitude and acclimatized before going up higher into the mountains.

An experienced English-speaking guide will accompany you during the entire trip.

Local people in Kyrgyzstan are very nice to tourists. They always offer all kinds of assistance and demonstrate their oriental hospitality.

Restaurants and Food

Kyrgyzstan's national cuisine is very rich and consists of fresh vegetables and natural meat.

We will bring you to cafes and restaurants with quality, delicious food, where you will be able to taste many different national dishes.

During the entire trip, we will provide you with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In the mountains, where there are no cafes and restaurants, we will prepare your lunch with fresh products.

Introduction to the culture

During the trip, we will introduce you to the culture of Central Asia's nomadic peoples.

We will visit the museum of national culture, listen to traditional music and songs, communicate with nomads in their ordinary life, stay overnight in an authentic Kyrgyz yurt, ride horses and see how food is cooked on fire.

The Jeep tour program and details

Day 1.

Arrival in Bishkek. We will meet you at the airport and take you to the Futuro Hotel. Today, we will take a tour around Bishkek and visit the national history museum as well as an authentic oriental bazaar (market).
After these activities, we will have a meal in the Arzu restaurant, where you will be able to taste various national dishes.

Day 2.

Your guide will pick you up at 9 a.m. We will drive through the Chui Valley and arrive at the Kemin National Park. Along the way, we will make several stops to take pictures and enjoy the outstanding landscape. By lunch, we will reach our guest house (Zhekshen) and check into our rooms. After our meal and a short rest, we will drive up into the mountains. Then we will walk for 2-3 hours in a beautiful gorge on an easy path. This short hike will help your body adapt to the altitude.
After our walk, we will go back to the hotel. Our host will give you a cooking lesson in the evening. We will see how Kyrgyz bursaks (fried bread) and the national dish Beshbarmak are cooked in a traditional cauldron. And, of course, we will be able to taste this freshly cooked food during dinner.

Day 3.

In the morning, we will leave for Son Kul Lake. We will drive through the Boom Gorge, go up to the small Kubaky Pass, and mark a short stop at the panorama, then go down to the city of Kochkor where we will have lunch in a local cafe. Then we will continue our way through a picturesque gorge, cross the Kalmak Ashu Pass and reach the high-mountain lake of Son Kul where nomads bring their herds in the summer. We will stay at the Muras Yurt Camp, have dinner in a yurt and rest after our busy day.

Day 4.

Today you can enjoy the setting to rest and relax. We will spend the whole day on the shore of Son Kul Lake. You will have the opportunity to learn more about nomadic culture. You will see how a yurt is put together, and how the Kyrgyz make their national drink "koumiss", that of course you will be able to taste. You will be able to walk along the lake shore and enjoy its silence, as well as ride Kyrgyz horses in this wilderness. You will have lunch in a yurt with a view of the lake. In the evening, you will have the chance to enjoy a national musical performance while having a tasty dinner : today, beef kurdak, smoked lamb fat, borsak, fresh salad and delicious mountain herb tea are on the menu.

Day 5.

After having discovered the magic Son Kul Lake, we will leave for the city of Naryn. Today, we will see a gorgeous pass called Moldo Ashu, go through a beautiful rocky gorge, make a stop at a waterfall for lunch, go across the Naryn River and finally reach Naryn in the evening. We will stay at the Khan Tengri Hotel and have a rest. In the evening, we will have dinner at a local cafe.

Day 6.

We will head to the legendary Kel-Su Lake. We will pass the town of At-Bashi and go up to the Kyndy Pass. After the pass, and the border control, we will take the bridge across the Aksai River, have lunch on the river bank and reach the Zhyrgal Yurt Camp in the evening. It is located not far from Kel-Su Lake. We will spend the night in yurts.

Day 7.

After breakfast, we will hike to Kel-Su Lake along the Kok-Kiya River. The distance from the camp to the lake is 7 km. If you prefer not to walk, you can also rent a horse and a guide to accompany you to the lake. At the lake, we will walk around and take pictures of the stunning views. We will have lunch afterwards and return to our car. We will drive back to the city of Naryn and the Khan Tengri Hotel. We will have dinner in a cafe.

Day 8.

Today, we will drive through the amazingly beautiful canyon of the Kichi Naryn River and reach the city of Kochkor. Although the road will take the whole day, there will be many interesting and beautiful landscapes to enjoy on the way. We will often stop for a break and photoshoot. At lunchtime, we will make a stop, walk in the canyon, and picnic on the river bank before heading further. IWe will arrive in Kochkor in the evening, check into Fatima's guest house, have a meal in a local cafe and have a well-deserved rest.

Day 9 -10

. We will head back to the capital, Bishkek. On our way to the Boom Gorge, we will drive up to a small pass and take a walk in the Konorchek Canyons. We will then have lunch in a cafe on the way and arrive at the Futuro Hotel in the evening. We will have our farewell dinner at Arzu Restaurant.

Departure day. A driver will pick you up at your hotel four hours prior to your flight and take you to the airport.
  • Money and additional expenses

    During the trip, you will need cash for souvenirs and various drinks. All other expenses are included in the price.

    You will be able to withdraw money for your expenses in the local currency at ATMs, or exchange money at banks in Bishkek, Kochkor or Naryn.

  • Hikes and Activities

    We will take easy walks through the many mountain valleys. The height during the whole trip varies from 850m – 3,500m above sea level.
  • Weather and clothes

    Kyrgyzstan has a temperate continental climate, warm and dry in the summer. The average summer temperature is 26-30 degrees Celsius.

    It gets 10-15 degrees cooler in the mountains with the increase in altitude ; the air temperature can fall to +5 degrees at night.

    You should have comfortable clothes and shoes for the trip in order to feel well in the car and during our hikes.

    Take a light jacket, a raincoat, a hat, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen and a small towel.
